About Sage Gateshead
Sage Gateshead is an international music, conference and event venue in the North East of England.
Set against the stunning backdrop of Newcastle Gateshead Quayside, the iconic building, designed by Foster & Partners, welcomes more than two million visitors a year to either a gig, a classical concert, a class or to our café and Brasserie.
Sage Gateshead is home to the acclaimed orchestra Royal Northern Sinfonia as well as popular annual festivals SummerTyne Americana and Folk on the Tyne. It stages over 400 concerts from classical and jazz to folk and pop.
Alongside its concerts, the music centre offers over 11,000 classes and workshops a year with opportunities to learn how to play all kinds of instruments; from the ukulele to the steel pans and singing classes to clog. Sage Gateshead is open to all ages and abilities with classes for the under 5s through to their silver programme for the over 50s.
With its unrivalled location, world-class acoustics, expert team and state-of-the-art technical and production facilities it offers the perfect place for all types of events. As an organisation they host a wide range of conferences from large brand names to international associations, award ceremonies, political party conferences, art exhibitions and live broadcasts. You can even get married in the beautiful setting of the glass curved building.
There is no entry fee to the building – and you never know which famous artist you might end up sitting next to in the café. Sting and Debbie Harrie have previously been spotted enjoying a coffee in the café and the orchestra players frequently have their lunch there.
Sage Gateshead is open from 9am, 7 days a week and the Box Office is open every day from noon.
